About & contact
Tainiaki (tainiaki.com and the Tainiaki apps for Android, Android TV, iPhone and Windows) is a free, private, non‑commercial service run by an individual in Greece for family and friends. It is not a company and does not sell anything.
For questions, your data, or anything else, write to this address. We aim to answer within 30 days (the GDPR limit).
Privacy policy
The person who runs Tainiaki (contact under About & contact) decides how your data is used (the “controller” under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR).
What we keep, and why
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address, your name, password (stored only as a secure hash by our sign‑in provider) | To give you an account and sign you in. |
| The date you agreed to these terms | Proof of your agreement (sign‑up only). |
| Your library, watch progress, watched marks, profiles, the addons you added, and your settings | So they follow you to every device. This is the service itself. |
| Short‑lived TV sign‑in codes | To sign a TV in from your phone. Deleted after use. |
| Trakt connection (only if you connect Trakt) | To sync what you watch with your Trakt account. Kept on our server, never on your devices. |
| Family invite links you create | To share your addon list with family. They contain the addon links you chose to share. |
Without an account (“Continue without an account”), everything stays on your device and nothing is sent to us.
Legal basis: providing the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)); for anyone under 15, a parent's consent (GDPR Art. 8 and Greek law 4624/2019).
What we don't do
- No advertising, no selling or sharing of data, no profiling.
- No analytics, tracking pixels, session recording or keystroke recording.
- No payment details: Tainiaki is free.
Who helps run it (processors)
- Supabase: accounts and the data above.
- Cloudflare: hosts tainiaki.com and our small server (Trakt, invites, “More like this”). Like any web host it sees your IP address when you visit.
- The Movie Database (TMDB): film and actor information. Our server asks TMDB; your device and IP address are not sent to them.
- Trakt: only if you connect it.
Some of these companies are based in the USA; they protect data transfers with the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU‑US Data Privacy Framework.
Things you choose to open
- Addons (catalogues, sources, subtitles) are run by other people and companies, not by us. When you use one, your device contacts it directly and its own privacy policy applies.
- Trailers play from YouTube's privacy‑enhanced mode (youtube‑nocookie.com), only when you press Trailer.
Your data & your rights
- Delete your account and everything with it: in the app, Settings → Account → Delete my account. This deletes your account, library, progress, profiles, addons, settings, Trakt connection and invite links, on every device, straight away.
- See, correct or get a copy of your data (access, rectification, portability), or object to how it's used: email basiliskarts@gmail.com.
- We keep your data until you delete your account or ask us to.
- You can complain to the Greek data protection authority: Hellenic Data Protection Authority (dpa.gr).
Children
To create an account you must be 15 or older, or a parent or guardian must set it up and agree for you. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13 without a parent's consent; if you think this happened, email us and we'll delete it.
Terms of service
- What Tainiaki is. A free media centre that shows catalogues and plays videos from addons you choose. Tainiaki itself hosts, stores and sells no films or series.
- Your responsibility. Addons are made by third parties. You are responsible for the addons you add and for what you watch through them. Only use content you have the right to watch, and respect the copyright laws where you live.
- Your account. Keep your password safe. You can delete your account at any time (Settings → Account).
- Fair use. Don't misuse the service, try to break it, or use it to harm others.
- No guarantee. Tainiaki is a free hobby project, provided “as is”. It may change, pause or stop at any time, and we can't promise it will always work. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses from using it.
- Changes. If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app.
- Law. Greek law applies, without taking away rights you have under the law of your own country.
Refund policy
Tainiaki is completely free: there are no purchases, subscriptions, hidden fees or automatic renewals, so there is nothing to refund. If that ever changes, the price and any renewal terms will be shown clearly before you pay.
Cookie policy
Tainiaki uses no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and no other non‑essential cookies or storage.
It only uses your browser's or app's own storage (“local storage”) for things the service needs to work: keeping you signed in, your settings and profiles, a copy of your library for when you're offline, and remembering the last pages you opened. This storage is strictly necessary for the service you asked for, so EU law (ePrivacy Directive Art. 5(3)) doesn't require a consent banner for it. If we ever add anything non‑essential, it will stay off until you agree.
You can clear it at any time in your browser's settings, or by signing out.
